Do you have a catalog?
You're looking at it. One reason we are able to offer these artworks at such a discount is that we do our best to control overhead costs, and that includes not paying for expensive printed catalogs in addition to our website. Often, when people ask for a printed catalog it's either because they're more familiar with the process of looking up products in a catalog, or because they're aware that a person can only see a handful of images on their screen as opposed to quickly leafing through a book or brochure. The problem here is that we carry well over 100,000 items from a multitude of publishers, and the size of our printed catalog would be so large it would have to be shipped to you in several volumes. We started by assuming you don't really want that, so instead we gave you a super-efficient search engine that will seek out just about anything you want in no time flat. Prefer to browse instead? We've classified everything so that you can peruse different "departments" as you please. And if you still can't find what you're looking for easily, write us a note by clicking on the Contact Us link at the bottom of any page and we'll help you look! Back to the top
What does the "No Illustration" picture mean?
Many of the artworks we sell on ForWallsOnly.com are not in the public domain, meaning that there are still active copyrights associated with them. The copyright holder may be the original artist, or it may be the estate of the artist, the publisher, or another "assignee" who has been assigned all or some of the copyrights by the artist or the primary owner of the copyrights. If you ever see the "no illustration" graphic in place of an image of the actual artwork, it usually means that the right to display images of the work on the Internet has been withheld or reserved by the copyright holder. If you're interested in a particular art piece and encounter this graphic, please feel free to contact us. We'll try to find an image of the artwork for you and, if we find it, email it to you. Will the color on the artwork I receive match your onscreen photo?
Many of the photos of open-edition posters that are displayed on ForWallsOnly.com are taken by the publishers of the posters. Sometimes, we've noticed, there can be a wide variance in the color quality of the photos between publishers, and even between the photos and the artworks themselves. In short, don't be surprised if two pictures of the same artwork appear different, or the colors on screen don't exactly match those on the actual poster you receive (in most cases, they will appear more vibrant on the poster, but not always). How accurate are the dimensions of the artwork given on your site?
Dimensions are a funny thing it seems like everyone has a different standard for measuring a simple picture. Some folks measure just the image, while others measure to the edges of the paper or canvas. Some people always state the longest dimension first, while others always put the width first. Our solution? We take the easy way out (sorry) and just tell you the dimensions exactly as the publisher or gallery gives them to us. Our experience has been that these measurements reflect the size of the entire sheet (not just the image) and that they are actually quite accurate. We apologize in advance to our metric customers for the fact that all measurements are given in inches. We also apologize if the measurements seem to be "backwards" relative to the onscreen image this just means that the publisher is adhering to their own eccentric standard in stating dimensions (which we hope you'll find more charming than annoying). Are the artworks on your site originals, reproductions or what?
It depends on the item. Our posters are almost all "open-edition" prints, meaning that they are usually produced from high-quality photographs of the original artwork, and the publisher can usually print more if they choose. Our "limited-edition" prints, on the other hand, are exactly that limited in quantity, and they cannot be reprinted because the original plates, screens, stones or other source materials have been destroyed. Limited editions are usually numbered to show the total number of prints in the "run" as well as each print's place in that run, and they are often though not always signed by the artist. You should know, however, that there is a great deal of "fuzziness" these days when it comes to the words original and reproduction. There is a method of printing called giclee, for instance, that some artists use to produce limited-edition-quality prints but, because the printing method involves digital technology, the "edition" is not necessarily truly limited (which can decrease the value of any existing prints). Similarly, there is a type of reproduction now (called a Ré) that is gaining popularity because it uses vintage presses, vintage ink recipes, and vintage methods to reproduce posters, often in limited runs (making these "reproductions" considerably more valuable than many other "originals"). How do you know what you're getting? Simple. We tell you honestly in our product description if there is anything exceptional you need to know.Back to the top
Are all of your artworks in stock?
We try to ensure that our product list is extremely accurate at all times, but we've got to be honest: with over 140,000 individual items offered for sale at any given time, there is a good chance that at least some of those items have recently become unavailable. Sometimes they are simply "out of stock" and we can backorder the item until the stock is replenished, or consult with you about substituting a nearly identical item from another publisher (if possible). Other times, however, there may be circumstances beyond our control affecting the availability of items, such as when artists withdraw the copyrights they had formerly assigned to their publishers. Whatever the circumstances, though, our promise to you is that we will promptly communicate anything that might affect the status of your order and if an item is, in fact, unavailable we will immediately issue a refund or credit if you decide you do not want to make a substitution or wait on a backorder. How safe is ordering from your website?
We honestly think we have one of the safest online ordering systems in the world, and we know our ordering system is a good deal safer than many, if not most, other online websites. You see, nearly all online ordering systems that claim to be "safe" rely on something called SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption. In plain English, what happens is that the credit card number and other personal information you enter into an online ordering form is turned into a secret code that only the parties directly involved in the transaction (like the credit card processor) can decipher. The more difficult the secret code is, the harder it is for anyone not involved in the transaction to "crack" it. The current standard in encryption technology is so good that a criminal would need a supercompomputer to decipher a simple transaction, making nearly all online transactions that use SSL extremely secure. We, however, go a step further and use a proprietary encryption technology that is literally billions of times more complex than the current standard. Consequently, we feel extremely confident in assuring you that all orders placed on our secure server are safe from prying eyes. Back to the top
Which credit cards do you accept?
We currently accept Mastercard and Visa, and we will be adding the Discover card soon. Back to the top
Can I pay by credit card over the phone?
Yes, although we should say here that another way we are able to afford offering such a large discount on our items is by not employing a full-time staff of telephone order takers. Consequently, if you've read about the safety of ordering online from us, but still feel uneasy using our secure server, please contact us via email with your telephone number we will call you and execute your order over the phone. Back to the top
How will this transaction appear on my credit card statement?
It should appear as "G-K DATA SERVICES," which is the name of our parent business. Back to the top
Do you take checks?
Yes. Please make your check out to the order of "G-K Data Services" and mail it to our payment-receipt address:
G-K Data Services
P.O. Box 5100
Evanston, IL 60204-5100
Can I pay for my order with PayPal?
Generally, no. We feel there are security-related and customer-service-related issues that PayPal has yet to resolve before we can consider them as a payment method on a par with, say, Mastercard or Visa. In certain limited circumstances, however, we may be willing to accommodate a PayPal transaction at our discretion. If you have no other payment option available to you and would like to inquire further about the possibility of using PayPal, feel free to contact us and we will consider your request. Back to the top
Do you take special orders?
We are constantly making improvements to our website and our services, as well as updating our inventory. Still, if you can't find exactly what you want, or would like to make a special request concerning your order, please let us know. We will research your request and let you know honestly whether we can accommodate you. If we can, please be aware there may be additional fees involved, but we will let you know what those are in advance. Back to the top
What are your shipping options?
We offer both standard and expedited shipping to most locations around the world. In the United States, standard shipping is via UPS Ground. Expedited shipping is available via UPS, Express Mail, or most other popular nationwide courier services. Nonexpedited (standard) orders shipped to destinations outside the United States will travel via international post. Expedited orders will travel via courier service.
(PLEASE NOTE: Because of the events of September 11, 2001, we have noticed a significant increase in delays as packages pass through Customs when entering destination countries. Please allow some extra time for your parcel to arrive before notifying us that your purchases may be "lost". We apologize for any inconvenience, and appreciate your understanding.) Back to the top
How will you package my order?
Unframed posters are placed on sheets of interleaving that are significantly larger than the poster. Those are then rolled up and placed in sturdy, thick-walled cardboard shipping tubes. If the contents of the tube shift during their journey to you, the only wrinkled or crumpled paper you should see when opening the tube is the interleaving (but please let us know if this is not the case). Back to the top
What will it cost to ship my order?
A two-pound tube containing one poster, shipped via standard UPS to destinations within the United States, will cost $9.50. This includes insurance against loss or damage as well as the ability to track the package (sorry, but this is not negotiable as we feel it is the minimal amount of service necessary to ensure that our customers receive timely, undamaged products).
International shipping charges start at US$26 (US$18.50 to Canada) for 1-10 prints via international post, and US$37 (US$29.50 to Canada) for 11-20 prints. International shipments of more than 20 prints will travel via the most economic courier available at the time.
Please be aware that expedited delivery, large-volume orders, and pre-framed or canvas transfer options will add to the shipping cost, but we will let you know what those costs are at the time your order is finalized. Back to the top
When will I receive my package?
Orders shipped via standard UPS Ground to destinations within the United States are typically received within 5 business days after shipping. UPS' 3-Day Select and 2nd-Day Air services are available for a nominal fee (usually $2 to $3), and next-day delivery is available at a premium via the most economical courier service available at the time. We're sorry, but we cannot reliably predict when international orders will arrive click here for an explanation. Back to the top
What should I do if my package doesn't arrive within a reasonable amount of time?
Contact us immediately and we will assist you in tracking your package. It is rare that packages are actually "lost" in transit, but we want to help correct whatever is delaying your package, as well as keep ourselves informed of possible delays that can affect our customers' satisfaction. Back to the top
What should I do if my package was damaged in transit?
Contact us immediately and we will initiate the claims process with the carrier. It is important that you save the damaged parcel so an inspector from the carrier can examine it. If you do not save the package, we cannot provide a replacement or refund your money. Once the damaged parcel has been examined, we will either replace your purchase or refund your money, whichever you choose. Back to the top
What is your return policy?
We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee, so if you don't like your new purchase, just return it and we will either refund your money or issue you a credit toward a different item. Please note that you must contact us first before returning any product we will not be able to issue you a credit or refund unless you do this. The reason for this is twofold: first, we are very interested in knowing about any dissatisfaction on the part of our customers so we can help ensure that future customers are not dissatisfied. Second, depending on the reason for your dissatisfaction, we may ask you to "return" your purchase to a different address than the one from which it was shipped. Back to the top
What's the best way to contact you?
By far the best way to contact us is via email, and for your convenience we have provided a Contact Us link at the bottom of every web page which should open up a preaddressed email note for you. Depending on how your browser and computer are configured, though, this may not happen and you may find it easier to open your email program yourself and send a note to us at customerservice@forwallsonly.com (our primary email address).
